How To Create Google Review Cards

October 1, 2024

You need to have a Google Business Profile in order for Google Review Cards to work. You should also generate a Google Review Link to make it easier for your customer to find your business listing.

Stores and service-based businesses have more ways today to gather feedback and reviews than at any time before. After COVID-19, much of the world transitioned to QR codes, NFC cards, and other digital experiences.

Scanning QR codes to access menus or place an order is widely accepted and adopted. Customers don't mind taking out their phones to tap and pay.

And you can pretty much program NFC cards or QR codes for almost everything and redirect it to wherever. You can even use it to collect Google reviews, which we'll discuss in the rest of this article.

What is a Google Review Card?

It is a card designed to collect Google reviews, which can also support Yelp and Facebook.

Google review cards make the experience of leaving a review a breeze for customers.

Traditionally, customers would have to look up a business online and then look for their business listing and review section. With Google review cards, you can redirect clients to your review prompt, where they can quickly leave feedback.

A Google Review Card can be digital(on your phone), a tabletop printout, or an NFC card.

How do they work?

Depending on how you created your Google Review Card, they can vary. We'll explore each one below.

Digital Google Review Cards (Static or Dynamic)
1) Static Review Cards

These are basically static QR codes programmed to go to your Google Review Link. Customers can scan them to easily leave a review and that is all they can do.

You can create this for free using Canva's QR code generator then download a screenshot of it to your photo gallery. To customize it further to your liking, add branding and other digital media.

2) Dynamic Review Cards

Dynamic QR codes can be changed on demand, even after you print them out. They are much more robust and customizable to meet the needs of your customers and business.

For example, with Reputigo's Shareable QR Codes, you can connect multiple review platforms and link or unlink them even after they are printed. At the same time, you can also collect feedback, something you can't achieve without a customizable review card.

If you want to create a dynamic QR code that gives your customer more choices for where to leave a review and an opportunity to provide feedback, you can find these on Reputigo's platform. Set up is very easy, create an account and link your Google and Facebook Business Profiles.

These are great for technicians and mobile businesses. Easily accessible via phone.

Customers can scan these quickly after payment. Works well for restaurants and mobile businesses, too.

Near-field communication (NFC) cards (Static or Dynamic)

Similar to bluetooth and Wi-Fi, NFC cards allow your devices to send and receive small bits of data. This is same technology behind tap to pay. In this instance, we're seeing them used to collect reviews.

1) Static NFC Review Cards

Similar to tap-to-pay experiences, NFC cards are programmable to redirect to your Google review link. You can make these as small as standard business cards or in a glass plate. Customers' needs a NFC enabled phone for this experience.

This type of review card allows you to collect reviews from anywhere, with a single-tap.

The only step required for customers is to place their phone near your NFC card. They will then receive a prompt to open your Google Business Profile. Done.

2) Dynamic NFC Review Cards

With dynamic cards, you can give your customers more tailored experiences. Most NFC-enabled review cards only have a single review platform option.

You typically need to purchase multiple cards for different purposes and review platforms, like one for Yelp, Facebook, or Google. These can become costly.

Reputigo's review cards can collect Google and Facebook reviews or direct feedback rather than a review. Best part, you can toggle these off if you only want to collect Google reviews.

Google Review Cards are programmable. You can and SHOULD link them to your Google Review Link, so your customers have a much smoother experience to leave a review. If you're unsure of how to find your Google Review Link, you can see how to generate a Google Reviews Link here.

Other than the convenience of Google Review Cards, having more Google reviews ranks you higher among your competitors. Google reviews impact where and how frequently your business shows up for searches. It provides social proof and gives your work creditability.

97 percent of customers read reviews for local businesses.

Review cards are relatively cheap. You can make Google Review Cards yourself for free or purchase them.

Shortfalls of having traditional Google Review Cards

Mostly static rather than dynamic

Review QR codes tend to be static, you are limited to branding and messaging customizations unless you have dynamic QR codes and NFC cards.

It is also worth noting that with static links, customers have fewer options for review platforms. If your client does not have a Google account, they cannot leave a review, and the alternative might require them to redo the entire process of scanning another card with your Facebook or Yelp review link.

Reputigo's dynamic QR codes make it easier for your customers to give direct feedback and reviews on alternative platforms if they're not signed in your connected review sites.

Prompt asking a customer to leave either a Facebook or Google review.

Ex. Customer doesn't have their Google login, but they have access to their Facebook account. They can easily switch up the platforms they wish to leave a review on. They can also give you feedback directly rather than a review. These customizations are not available on static review cards.

Not automated and captures less reviews than review generation software

You capture much fewer reviews with static Google Review Cards.

Your technicians, office staff, and administrators need to proactively ask, whereas review generation software like Reputigo can automatically follow up on your behalf at your convenience, either once or multiple times. Follow-ups net 3-4x more reviews on average, as not everybody responds to or sees your request for a review the first time.

By asking once for a review, your customer may not use your service or purchase for months. Follow-ups increase your odds of building a reputation earlier on and getting reviews immediately.

Missing out on opportunities to nurture and upsell customers

As a small business, data helps you make better decisions. Reviews contain information on how your business is doing, who on your team is doing a good job, and which of your customers love your services.

You also can't reply to your reviews in a centralized place or retain customer information.

Data helps you market more effectively to customers and hyper-personalize messages based on their recommendations. Additionally, you can reconnect with clients to get referrals or to remind them of your services.

Alternatives to traditional Review Cards

Reputigo's Review Generation software takes review experiences further than review cards, as it can capture more reviews through automated follow-ups and allow you to go back in time to invite past customers.

Additionally, as the platform develops, you'll have the ability to integrate field management and accounting tools to automatically send invitations out when you complete a job or a customer makes a purchase. Making it easier to get reviews while improving the experience for your customers.
